Herrfors Group published its first Sustainability Report
Herrfors Group has published its first Sustainability Report, prepared in accordance with the EU’s voluntary VSME standard (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for non-listed SMEs). For the first time, the report brings together the Group’s key topics and indicators related to environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and good governance.
The report also includes, for the first time, the Group’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emission calculations in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The Sustainability Report describes the Group’s long-term efforts to promote fossil-free energy production, security of supply, and responsible working life practices.
“Thanks to several years of strategic investments in fossil-free electricity production, fossil-free production sources now account for 97 percent of the production portfolio (2025).”
At the same time, Herrfors achieved its goal of increasing the share of fossil-free electricity production to at least 95 percent by the end of 2025. In 2025, already 97 percent of electricity production was fossil-free. In district heating production, 92 percent of the energy sources were renewable.
The report also highlights Herrfors’ long-term efforts to strengthen security of supply. During 2025, Herrfors Nät-Verkko invested EUR 10 million in a weather-resistant and reliable electricity network.
“At Herrfors, we see security of supply as part of our social responsibility through long-term investments in electricity and district heating networks as well as modern technology.”
On the social responsibility side, the report addresses employee wellbeing, competence development, and a safe working environment. At the end of 2025, Herrfors Group employed a total of 108 people, of whom 30 percent were women and 70 percent men.
“Employee competence is developed systematically in line with the Group’s strategy, goals, and workplace development plan.”
The Sustainability Report covers Herrfors Group’s operations in Finland and includes information on Oy Herrfors Ab, Herrfors Nät-Verkko Oy Ab, Oy Perhonjoki Ab and Katternö Kraft Oy Ab.
