Zero-conductor failure
Information about zero-conductor faults – important for the customer
What is a zero-conductor fault?
A zero-conductor fault means that the neutral conductor in the electrical system has broken or lost connection. This can cause dangerous voltage fluctuations in a home’s electrical system.
Why is it dangerous?
- Electrical appliances in the home may receive too much voltage and be damaged
- Metal casings can become live
- Risk of electric shock can be life-threatening
What signs might you as a customer notice?
- Lights flicker or behave abnormally
- Appliances become warm or smell like something is burning
- Multiple devices fail unexpectedly
- Residual-current device (fault protection) trips repeatedly

What should you do?
- Switch off power at the main switch, if possible
- Do not touch appliances with metal casings
- Contact Herrfors emergency fault service immediately
How can such faults be prevented?
Maintain the electrical panel properly, do not store wet or heavy items on cables, and report abnormal electrical behavior early.
