Occupational safety
Occupational safety is a central part of everyday life at Herrfors group and our goal is zero workplace accidents. In 2024, we had no accidents resulting in absence due to injury.
Occupational safety collaboration is shared between Herrfors and Herrfors Nät-Verkko. All new employees receive thorough safety training during onboarding and we regularly organize trainings and maintain certifications to ensure safe working procedures. Appropriate safety equipment is always used.
Safety topics are regularly addressed in our departmental meetings and statistics are reviewed monthly by the management team. We encourage our staff and partners to report safety observations to help prevent accidents and we conduct statutory risk assessments related to occupational safety. Workplace accidents and near-miss incidents are used as learning opportunities to prevent future risks. We also carry out regular safety walks and “safety moments” to strengthen our safety culture.
We work closely on safety matters with subcontractors both at our own sites and at shared worksites. Safety is always on the agenda at workplace meetings, where safety observations are discussed and improvement suggestions are developed. As we often work in public spaces, we make it a priority to ensure safety not only for ourselves, but also for others.
For us, a safe working environment is the foundation of a workplace where people thrive and grow!

Supply reliability
Electricity is an essential part of everyday life at home, at work, and in society’s most critical functions.
At Herrfors Nät-Verkko, we view supply security as part of our social responsibility through long-term investments in the electricity grid and modern technology. We know our local area and actively work to prevent disruptions and quickly resolve any outages.
We plan and build for the future, with the goal that our customers can always rely on electricity being there when they need it safely and reliably.
Power grid development plan
To ensure that the electricity grid meets the needs of the future, its development must be carefully planned and forward-looking. Herrfors Nät-Verkko’s development plan outlines how we are building a grid that will reliably serve our customers for years to come.
The development plan assesses changes in the operating environment, such as increased electricity consumption, the energy transition, and regional development and their impact on the electricity grid. Based on these forecasts, we plan the necessary investments and grid reinforcements for the coming ten-year period.
The plan was updated in 2024 and included a public consultation. This gave customers and stakeholders the opportunity to provide input and influence the solutions selected for grid development.
The development plan is not just a technical document, it is a tool that helps us build a more functional and reliable electricity distribution system, together.
Security of supply
At Herrfors Nät-Verkko, we want to ensure that electricity distribution functions even in disturbance situations during both normal and exceptional conditions. . That is why we engage in contingency planning in accordance with the guidelines of the National Emergency Supply Agency and the Energy Authority. We work closely with other companies in the industry and with authorities to identify risks. The plans are updated annually.

Herrfors Nät-Verkko complies with the Act on the Contractor’s Obligations and Liability when Work is Contracted Out (1233/2006). When entering into contracts, we verify the background information of our partners and monitor that they comply with legislation and assure their responsibilities during the contract period.
