Network development

Electricity network for future needs

Development plan – direction for the future

Electricity use and production are changing rapidly – consumption is increasing, more renewable energy is being connected to the grid, and regional development requires an even stronger and more flexible electricity network. We are developing the grid in a planned way to reliably and cost-effectively meet these needs.

Why is a development plan made?

The development plan helps us prepare for changes in time and plan investments effectively. In this way, we ensure that the network will serve customers and regional growth in the coming years as well.

What does the development plan describe?

The plan describes the development of the operating environment and its effects on the electricity network. It examines, among other things, the growth in electricity demand, the spread of distributed energy production, changes in land use, and technological development.

How does the plan help?

  • For those planning connections: information about capacity and upcoming reinforcements
  • For municipalities and planners: a basis for land use and construction planning
  • For companies and investors: assurance of the feasibility of plans
  • For authorities and stakeholders: visibility into the network’s development directions

Vision and forecast

The development of the electricity network is not only about improving the present – it is a look into the future. The strategic forecast included in the development plan assesses the long-term development of electricity use and production. Based on these, we develop a network that aims for:

  • Sufficient and flexible capacity
  • Efficient integration of renewable and distributed production
  • An intelligent and digital network
  • High security of supply

Solutions for cost-effective development

The network’s structural solutions are chosen so that the investments are sensible and long-lasting. Long-term planning ensures that renovations and reinforcements are carried out at the right time and in the right place – for the benefit of both customers and the environment.

Participate and influence

The development plan is not created behind closed doors. Through public consultation, customers and stakeholders have the opportunity to influence the content of the plan and how the network is developed.

The next development plan will be available for consultation for our customers in approximately April 2026.
