Change of fuse size at the usage site
Add more electrical power – or adjust it to fit your needs

How fuse size changes are made
-
Contact an electrical contractor
hey will assess the situation at the usage site and determine whether the fuse size can be changed. -
The contractor submits a modification notification to us.
The notification is reviewed, and we ensure that the change is technically feasible. -
The modification work is carried out by the contractor
If needed, we replace the energy meter — although this is usually not necessary. -
The network service product is updated automatically.
Changing the fuse size may affect the network service fee..

Submit fuse size change electronically
To request a fuse size change, you can use the available electronic service form. After submitting the form, the electrical contractor will contact you and handle the process.
The network service product is determined by fuse size
The network service product in use at the usage site is based on the fuse size. A larger size allows for greater power capacity, and a smaller fuse size may reduce the network service fee.
Frequently asked questions about fuse sizes
A connection is the entire property’s electricity supply from the power grid. Its capacity is limited by so-called main fuses.
- A usage site is an individual metering point within the connection – such as an apartment or building.
One connection may include multiple usage sites (e.g. in a row house, each unit is its own usage site).
No. The modification must always be done by an authorized electrical contractor. They ensure safety and submit the necessary notifications.
Generally, no. If the meter is not compatible with the new fuse size, Herrfors will replace it free of charge.
Typically within 3–5 business days after the contractor’s notification.
We do not charge for the change if it stays within the technical limits of the current connection and doesn’t require a meter replacement. Your electrical contractor will invoice their work separately.
- When more electricity is needed in the home or property, for example for electric vehicle charging or a new heating system, it may be necessary to change the fuse size at the usage site. On the other hand, the fuse size can also be reduced if the power demand has decreased.
- The fuse size at the usage site determines how much electricity can be used simultaneously – but the change is always made within the capacity limits of the existing electricity connection.
What is a usage site and what does fuse size mean?
- A usage site is an individual electricity metering point, such as an apartment, house, or commercial space.
- The fuse size defines the available power at the usage site.
- A connection is the link between the power grid and the property through which electricity is delivered. One connection can serve multiple usage sites – for example in row houses or apartment buildings.
Important:
The fuse size of a usage site can only be changed if the change fits within the technical limits of the connection. Changing the fuse size does not alter the capacity of the electricity connection and does not require new cabling.
