Electricity network construction
We will start the planning and obtain the necessary permits, such as excavation permits. We will then carry out the required construction work, such as cabling and installing substations. -
Connection readiness
Once the network construction work has been completed, connection readiness will be available at the property boundary. -
Meter installation
After the connection has been delivered, you can order the installation of the meter once the meter cabinet and the property’s internal connection cable have been built and inspected for electricity connection.

Pricing principles for electricity connections
The price of an electricity connection within the Herrfors Nät-Verkko network area is based on the distance to the nearest distribution transformer (zone) and the size of the main fuse of the connection. When determining the zone, the location of the building in relation to the distribution network is taken into account.
Before ordering a connection, check your zone and conveniently calculate the exact connection price with the calculator.
To calculate the connection price, you will need:
Property address
Main fuse size

Remember to order the meter well in advance
The electricity meter is not automatically included in the connection – order it separately to ensure that electricity can be taken into use as planned.
FAQ about electricity connections.
The connection cable is the wire that brings electricity from the electricity network into your property. Without it, you will not receive electricity in your home or business. The connection point is usually located at the property boundary.
An electrician (electrical contractor) installs the cable from the connection point to the house and checks the integrity of the cable before it is taken into use.
Yes. You are free to request quotes from several electricians and choose the one that best meets your needs. Please note that the connection cable must comply with the requirements of the distribution company.
An underground cable usually lasts 40–50 years. The maintenance of the cable is the customer’s responsibility.
The price depends on how much electricity you need and how far your property is from the electricity network. The connection fee is always determined according to the distribution company’s price list.
The connection fee covers connecting to the electricity grid and building the connection point. In addition, you pay separately for the connection cable as well as the meter cabinet and their installation on your property. The installation of the electricity meter is included in the connection fee.
The delivery time varies depending on the scope of the work and any excavation required. In most cases, the connection is ready within a few weeks, but for larger projects it may take several months. On our website you can find average delivery times by area.
Order the connection well in advance of starting construction. This way you can be sure that electricity will be available when it is needed.
A new connection involves three agreements:
- A connection agreement with the distribution company, signed when the connection is built.
- A network service agreement with the distribution company, which allows you to use the electricity grid and ensures electricity transmission to your home.
3. An electricity supply agreement with the electricity supplier of your choice to purchase the electricity.
The connection agreement is signed only once, when the connection is built. The network service agreement and electricity supply agreement are ongoing and remain in force as long as you use electricity. When you sign an electricity supply agreement, your electricity supplier automatically informs the distribution company, which then activates the network service agreement.
- The distribution company invoices the delivered network service and the electricity tax.
- The electricity supplier invoices the electricity itself.
The meter cabinet is the place where the electricity meter is installed. It contains the main fuses and the connections that protect and control the distribution of electricity in your property.
The customer acquires the meter cabinet through their own electrician.
The meter cabinet is usually placed at the property boundary or on the outer wall of the house. The distribution company must have unobstructed access to the meter.
The meter cabinet is installed by the customer’s electrician. The distribution company installs the electricity meter only after the work is completed and the electrician has notified the distribution company.
A good placement ensures that the meter is easy to read and maintain. This makes things easier both for the customer and for the distribution company.
The meter is usually installed within a few working days after the electrician has reported that the work is complete.
Once the meter has been installed and you have a valid electricity supply agreement, the distribution company will switch on the electricity.
